Mit einem Alter von ca. einem Jahr wurde diese blinde Schildkr\u00f6te im Jahr 2000 in dieses Rettungszentrum in Hersonissou geschickt. Seitdem lebt Stephanie dort, seit nunmehr 22 Jahren. Das Tier wird seit 1999 jeden Vormittag um 10.30 Uhr von seinem Besitzer von Hand gef\u00fcttert. Der Besitzer, ein alter schottischer Mann, hat Angst, dass nach seinem Tod niemand da sein wird, der sich um das Tier k\u00fcmmert. Diese Schildkr\u00f6ten k\u00f6nnen immerhin 120 Jahre alt werden.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Auf einem der Foto\u00a0 ist ein Oktopus zu sehen der das Glas selbst aufgeschraubt hat um an das Futter zu kommen. Wir waren sprachlos wie intelligent diese Tiere offensichtlich zu sein scheinen.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Auf dem zweiten Bild f\u00fcttert John (der schottische Besitzer) die <\/strong><\/span><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Wir verbrachten einen ganzen Tag in unserem Urlaub im Oktober 2021 in Matala inklusive dem Besuch der H\u00f6hlen von Matala und dem Strand von Matala. Danach haben wir das Dorf ein bisschen erkundet. Das Matala-Dorf ist auch als &#8222;Hippie Dorf&#8220; bekannt da es hier viele Hippies gab. Diese Hippies haben auch in den H\u00f6hlen gelebt, in den 60ern und auch noch in den 70ern. Matala ist am besten mit einem Mietauto zu erreichen. Der Ort befindet sich im S\u00fcden der Insel. Die Fahrt war etwa 40 Kilometer von Suite Leon entfernt, also doch recht flott zu erreichen. Unser Sohn und ich genossen das Dorf mit all seinen kleinen Gesch\u00e4ften, Eisdielen und anderen Lokalit\u00e4ten. Es wird aufgrund der Historie viel deutsch gesprochen. Es ist einfach gro\u00dfartig &amp; man sollte einmal dort gewesen sein.<\/span><\/p><div class=\"wp-container-15 wp-block-columns\"><div class=\"wp-container-13 wp-block-column\"><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Der Strand ist recht breit, aber im Juli und August ist er leider oft sehr \u00fcberf\u00fcllt. Matala ist in der Tat eines der beliebtesten Reiseziele auf der Insel. Behalten Sie es also gerne im Hinterkopf als Reiseziel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Es gibt Dutzende von Restaurants, Bars und Tavernen direkt am Meer. Fr\u00fcher war das alles super praktisch, gerade f\u00fcr die Einheimischen. In den letzten Jahren ist das Dorf jedoch sehr beliebt geworden und jedes Jahr kommen mehr Touristen.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Agios Nikolaos und der &#8222;Goldene Strand&#8220;<\/strong><\/span><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Diese Stadt liegt im Osten der Insel und ist auch als &#8222;St. Tropez&#8220; von Griechenland\/Kreta bekannt. Wir haben uns die Stadt w\u00e4hrend unseres Urlaubes im Jahr 2022 angesehen. Agios Nikolaos ist etwa 100 Kilometer von der Suite Leon entfernt. Sie haben dort viele M\u00f6glichkeiten, wie z. B. Einkaufen oder einheimisches Essen zu genie\u00dfen. Die Innenstadt ist einfach ein Gedicht. Sie k\u00f6nnen aber auch einfach nur die fantastische Stadt genie\u00dfen, auch ohne Geld auszugeben. Vor allem am Jachthafen und im Hafen selber ist es fantastisch. Es gibt tats\u00e4chlich viele verschiedene und vielf\u00e4ltige M\u00f6glichkeiten den Tag in dieser Stadt zu verbringen.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Den zweiten Teil des Tages verbrachten wir an einem wundersch\u00f6nen Strand in der N\u00e4he von Agios Nikolaos, dem Voulisma Beach (auch bekannt als Golden Beach). Dies ist ein wundersch\u00f6ner Strand mit tiefblauem Wasser und einer absolut gepflegten Umgebung. Sie m\u00fcssen, nat\u00fcrlich nur wenn Sie wollen, f\u00fcr die Strandst\u00fchle und Liegen bezahlen (10 \u20ac pro Tag). Ebenfalls befindet sich hier auch eine sehr sch\u00f6ne Strandbar mit k\u00f6stlichen lokalen Speisen.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Hochebene Lassithi auf Kreta<\/strong><\/span><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Mit einer H\u00f6he von 850 m ist das <strong>Lasithi-Plateau<\/strong> die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Gebirgsebene des Landes <em>auf Kreta. Es ist auch das einzige<\/em> das ganzj\u00e4hrig besetzt ist. Die Hochebene verl\u00e4uft etwa 11 km in Ost-West-Richtung und 6 km in Nord-S\u00fcd-Richtung. In der Umgebung liegen die Gipfel Selena (1559 m) im Norden, <em>Afendi<\/em> (1588 m) und <em>Louloudaki<\/em> (1163 m) im Westen, <em>Spathi<\/em> (2148 m) im S\u00fcden und <a href=\"https:\/\/www.destinationcrete.gr\/plateaus\/plateau-of-katharo\/\">Katharo<\/a> (1564 m) und <a href=\"https:\/\/www.destinationcrete.gr\/nature\/e4-european-trail\/72-varsami-selakano\/\">Varsami<\/a> (1545 m) im Osten. In der Vergangenheit waren Viehzucht und Landwirtschaft die Hauptbesch\u00e4ftigungen hier.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Heute hat sich dieses Plateau in einen riesigen Garten verwandelt, einfach traumhaft. Bis vor einigen Jahren wurde die Bew\u00e4sserung mit Tausenden von kleinen Windm\u00fchlen betrieben (einige von ihnen gibt es noch). In gewisser Weise handelte es sich um eine riesige Windkraftanlage die in ihrer traditionellen Form zum Pumpen von Wasser und nicht zur Stromerzeugung diente. Die Anwesenheit menschlicher Siedlungen in diesem Gebiet reicht Tausende von Jahren zur\u00fcck was man auch sieht. Wir besuchten naheliegend auch die Zeus-H\u00f6hle oberhalb von <em>Psychro<\/em>, wo der griechischen Legende nach <em>Zeus<\/em> geboren ist weil sein Papa ihn fressen wollte:).<\/span><\/p><h5><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Die Entw\u00e4sserungskan\u00e4le<\/strong><\/span><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Eine weitere Attraktion, die wir in Juli 2022 auf der Hochebene beobachten konnten sind die linearen Entw\u00e4sserungskan\u00e4le, die von den Venezianern vor langer Zeit angelegt wurden, um Wasser \u00fcber die Hochebene zu transportieren. Als die Venezianer Kreta eroberten, verwandelten sie Lassithi in den gr\u00f6\u00dften &#8222;Garten&#8220; Kretas, der noch heute Kreta mit Kartoffeln und Gem\u00fcse von hervorragender Qualit\u00e4t versorgt. Bei einem Spaziergang auf der Hochebene findet man an jeder Stelle Linien die auf lange wasserf\u00fchrende Gr\u00e4ben hindeuten die dort einmal gewesen sind.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Samaria-Schlucht<\/strong><\/span><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Die Samaria-Schlucht ist die ber\u00fchmteste Schlucht Kretas und eine der gr\u00f6\u00dften in Europa. Die Schlucht ist 1962 zum Nationalpark erkl\u00e4rt worden und wird j\u00e4hrlich von mehr als 300.000 Menschen besucht. Wir bewunderten seine einzigartige Sch\u00f6nheit und die Vielfalt der Landschaften. Diese Gegend ist auch ist die Heimat der vom Aussterben bedrohten Kri-Kri, einer wilden Ziege, die nur auf Kreta vorkommt, sowie Heimat von fast 450 Arten der kretischen Flora. 70 davon sind nur(!) in dieser Schlucht zu finden. Die L\u00e4nge der Schlucht betr\u00e4gt ca. 16 km. Aber die Wanderung von einer Seite des Nationalparks zur anderen ist ungef\u00e4hr 18 km lang und dauert 6 bis 8 Stunden.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Der Samaria-Nationalpark ist traditionell immer <strong>Anfang Mai f\u00fcr die \u00d6ffentlichkeit<\/strong> zug\u00e4nglich. Im April ist es allerdings auch oft bereits m\u00f6glich die Schlucht von Samaria zu betreten. Dies h\u00e4ngt von der Witterung und dem Arbeitsaufwand ab der erforderlich ist um den Weg nach den Winterregenf\u00e4llen wiederherzustellen.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Von daher variieren leider die \u00d6ffnungszeiten der Schlucht. Sie k\u00f6nnte Im April, ab dem 1. Mai, oder sogar sp\u00e4ter (bei schlechtem Wetter oder versp\u00e4teten Reparaturarbeiten) er\u00f6ffnet werden.
